Yesstyle.com haul

I woke up on this snowy Syracuse morning to a yesstyle box! It could not have come at a better time, as the leggings I ordered fit my snowy landscape perfectly and I will wear them today. Shipping from Hong Kong consistently takes less time than ANY domestic shipping. Figure that one out.

First is this Peter Pan style crochet collar top. It's cute. She looks like a pumpkin!

I've had my eye on this simple color blocked top for months... pretty sure it was from the summer collections. Oh well. It looks terrible on me at the moment since my paleness is akin to the white paint on my walls. (Why are there no tanning places around SU? I can name 5 tanning places that sandwiched ISU's campus. Hm.)

Last is this pair of snowflake leggings! I'm 5'8 so they're really short on me, almost like those leggings that stop mid-calf. I plan on wearing them with boots anyway so that doesn't matter much. I chose the left pattern.

Yessstyle Review

I finally got my stuff from yesstyle.com! I ordered on Sept 24, but I don't expect it to arrive for 2 weeks, because one item was in the “ships in 7-14 days” category. Otherwise I'd have this package in a couple days. I got an email saying it shipped on the 4th, which lied! I didn't get it until the 10th, but I did have enjoy seeing all the places this package had check in: Hong Kong, Taiwan, Anchorage, Memphis, and finally to Syracuse.

I received the box from a rather frazzled looking FedEx man. I don't blame him, my street is completely closed and my driveway resembles something like a moat...

Yay!

So here's what I ordered, pics from yesstyle's website.

I'm aware of how Japanese schoolgirl this looks. I think it's the bow that does it. Haha! It fits me fine, it's REALLY short though, which is because I'm about 5'8. Good thing I got this slip dress:

You're looking at the white lace/chiffon part here, which goes under a dress. It's basically a long cotton cami with this attatched to the bottom and I think it's the greatest idea ever. I'm a fan of the long cardigan and leggings combo and this would work perfectly underneath. It it adds length to those shirts that you're never sure whether to wear them as a dress or as a top. It's probably going to become one of my favorite things I own. My only complaint is that it's pretty tight... but I blame that on my large bottom!

Last is this plain black zippy. Its fleece and soft and I already studded it up (will post that soon). My complaint is that this came with holes about 2 inches long on the shoulder seams, like the sewing machine didn't catch them. It was nothing that I couldn't stitch up myself in a couple minutes, but still, I don't expect my clothes to have holes in them when I get them.

Pretty pleased overall. If shipping takes long, it's nothing that yesstyle doesn't inform you about when you order so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

Grace Kelly

I went to see Rear Window at a local art gallery yesterday and even though I've seen that film multiple times, Grace Kelly's wardrobe (and her performance, of course) stuns me. The first dress that she is seen in completely floors me every time. The way she just twirls around in that HUGE skirt, she just seems to float everywhere. It amazes me.

And they even made a pattern at McCall's!

Syracuse Pride Pumpkin Suit

On Saturday, I experienced my first bit of grad school spirit at a football game. We got to the game super early and scored front row seats in the student section. I expected rowdy Syracuse fans in ridiculous outfits and some people did not disappoint. There were orange wigs, some body paint, headbands galore... but I made this tremendous find just down the row from me.

Look at this fabulous orange suit. He even has an orange tie AND orange sunglasses. My only complaint is that his pants need hemming. Gimme dat please, I can fix for you. And the shoes choice is a little off. Granted, it is a football game... but if you're going to wear this, at least complete your whole ensemble. Some patent tangerine shoes would have been smashing, no?

The owner at Mr. Tux would just die if he saw this. And I guarantee he could sell it to some poor prom kid who thinks he's being flashy for not wearing black. We have one super ugly sparkly navy blue tux and also a purple one that my boss always manages to rent out every year. It amazes me.

(Btw, I just labeled this under "fashion" and "football." How often does those two words coincide?)

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012

I loved this collection! I'm not sure about the shiny crinkly look of the fabric of the first 2 dresses but DAMN that gives the look some scale and movement. Loved it paired with super tight lace. And all of the lace in general.

Love the clear oxford shoe, versatile much? Just change your sock color and you've got an entirely different shoe.

This color is mad. Absolutely bonkers. This pile of fabric pre-dress has the potential to be a complete mess, but put together, it's PERFECT. And look at the combo of fur and light flowey material. Gorgeous.

Look at that hardware!! I want it, please.

Yesstyle.com Fall Fashion

Oh yesstyle, you are so cruel with the way you send me weekly emails reminding me of your huge variety of clothes and speedy international shipping. I happened across yesstyle last year and have been in love with their slightly cutesy fashion aesthetic. Their brands vary from East Asian countries (Japan, China, Korea, mainly) but seriously, their shipping beats anywhere you will buy from in America. The first time I ordered, shipping from Hong Kong really did only take 3 days and was only $10. It was amazing.

The one thing that is a little discouraging is their lack of sizes. Nearly everything is “one size fits all.” If I know humans at all, I know that we are not all once size. Be very careful with ordering. At least they always give a diagram of exact measurements, make sure you use it. I've ordered a dress and a sweater and they both fit me perfectly, but I would never buy pants or shorts from them. These clothes are made to fit Asian women who are generally on the petite side. Use the measurements they give and make sure your clothes will fit you before you order.

Their clothes can be either very simple or very heavy on embellishments. Stripe or polka dot heavy, lots of ruffles and bows. I guess I like a lot of these things too, but in moderation. Seeing them all lined up on the website can be a little bit overwhelming. Think of walking into Forever21 on Black Friday. It can definitely feel like that. Most of their items are on the girly, classic, and preppy side; you won't find anything grungy or super edgy here. One thing you will learn after viewing the styled shots on each item's page: the Asians are MASTERS of layering (enter the lacy hem slipdress).

Their clothes range from super cheap to slightly expensive for what you're getting. I can't speak for all the brands since they have so many, but I'm sure they range in quality. I've read tons of horrible reviews in regards to service all across the web, many people got charged in taxes (which depends on the laws of your country, USA didn't add any at all for me) and shipping times. This depends on whether it says “ready to ship” on the page you order from. Not all of the clothes are in this category.
All I can say is: know what you're getting into and read all the conditions regarding shipping and cost before you order. Once you sift through their thousands of items and find some things you like, you'll be golden.
